Oh My God! Wrestling presents...
THE WAY ANGER BURNS
From the Queen's Hot Ring, Knightsbridge
04 Feb 07
And it’s back! After the riot at the Danger Has A Face, and the subsequent arrest of Jack Cassidy and Morten Wyngarde, it looked like Nat-Ex was finished. And in a way, it was. However, the son of Morten Wyngarde, Martin Wyngarde, a rather geeky looking twenty-something has taken control of the ship, renamed it Oh My God! Wrestling and taken the show out of the USA until the situation calms down. As part of the UK leg of the tour, OMG!W comes to Knightsbridge in London, just a stone throw from Buckingham Palace, filling a 150 seater hall for some wrestling that’ll make the fans say OH MY GOD!
Martin Wyngarde likes to stay behind the scenes so YUBAI, THE GENOCIDAL GIANT, all 7’2, 350lbs of him, came out at the top of the show and said it didn’t matter to him whether he was fighting in Nat-Ex, OMG!W or the pits of hell – the one thing that remains the same is that he is the most dominant force in wrestling, and Rob Cole will find out tonight that he’ll lose his championship tonight anyway, because Yubai will cripple him.
Then out came the handsome young and friendly CHRIS ROCKET, to a mega pop from the crowd. The young superstar said that he knew the weight of expectation was on him as the hottest thing to come out of the UK wrestling circuit for decades, but he would be more than a match for some drunk native American.
Then a crowd pop as new OMG!W signing ‘TEXAS DEATH’ ALEX COUGAR emerged. The veteran brawler came up to Chris Rocket and said that he’d been around the ring more times than he cares to mention, and he’s proud to be making his debut for OMG!W here in the UK, but Rocket is going to have to be very careful, because Native American’s are a tough bunch, but they’re not as tough as Texans, the toughest men living on the planet.
So it was time for the first match of the evening and it was the veteran Texan brawler ‘TEXAS DEATH’ ALEX COUGAR making his debut against the muscle monster that is THE THIIIIIIIIIIIIING. This was never going to be much more than a brawl and didn’t really get the crowd going, but they liked the way Cougar took a beating but kept on fighting. He made the most of Thiiiing’s limited mobility, and kept him on the ground when he could. The Thiiiing got a few big blows in like a tremendous running powerslam, but Cougar was able to kick out. The match finished with his trademark ‘Death in Texas’ catch-release belly-to-belly overhead suplex, which was quite cool to see hit on a big man like The Thiiiiiing. He won the match, and a few fans!
However, while he was celebrating, an unshaven, moustachioed man with ‘Oklahoma’ stencilled down the side of his red-singlet ran into the ring out of the crowd and immediately put Cougar in a Fujiwara Armbar, and refused to let go as Cougar tapped the mat repeatedly, in immense pain, with no way out. Eventually Chris Hartt rushed down to the ring with Chris Rocket and Al Tonka and together they were able to pull the man off Cougar, and the man then disappeared into the crowd. The crowd buzzed with wonder at who the mystery man might be.
AL TONKA has been victorious in his 3 matches so far. Can he continue that against the UK's great new wrestling talent, CHRIS ROCKET? Rocket was fighting in front of a keen home town crowd. His fast, exciting, high pace style, along with his finisher, the Rocketeer, has made him a household name in the UK. Al has built up a small fanbase of his own so far with his 3 victories. Al came out clowning around doing Indian whoops and hollers and running around. He began the match by going for shoulder blocks. This was easy for Rocket to sidestep and then nail Tonka with dropkicks, legsweeps and armdrags. Rocket looked really good, controlling the match and keeping up a high tempo that Tonka couldn’t keep up with, although Tonka was able to get Rocket into a pinning predicament several times during this period. Nobody watching the match would have thought Rocket could have possibly lost against a wrestler who appeared to be wrestling drunk. The match came to an end with Rocket hitting Tonka with the flying hurracanrana into a small package, but Tonka somehow twisted it over into a small package of his own and got the 1-2-3! The fans couldn’t believe it, but they applauded the drunk underdog as Rocket himself shook hands with Tonka after the match.
JIM BASTARD and LEON BRONSKI haven’t had much in the way of a challenge since becoming tag-team champions, but the hardcore brawlers would be getting a taste of their own medicine against the team of EXTREME ALLIES, consisting of BILLY RANSOM and ZAKI, THE ISLAMIC EXTREMIST, both of whom like to take their matches to the extreme. But rather than sluggish brawlers, Extreme Allies are a fast, high flying team, who know how to swing chairs. And this match did deliver what it promised – extreme action as all four men were busted open. The best moment was Ransom leaping off the top rope with a steel chair and dropkicking it into the face of Jim Bastard. The Dirty Faces aren’t tag champs for nothing, and the two men wearing their blood stained coveralls used their experience and understanding to isolate Zaki for long periods of the encounter and this would eventually prove important as the popular Billy Ransom lost patience and nailed Bronski with a steel chair inside the ring while the ref was looking, giving The Dirty Faces a DQ victory. A good match, but the Dirty Faces roll on as the dominant tag-team in OMG!W.
In a tag-team rematch from the OMG!W houseshow in Romford,, NATIONAL CHAMPION PABLO RAREFACTION teamed up once more with BULL TYLER to battle STEVE HANSON and CHRIS HARTT. Rarefaction, Tyler and Hanson all bore the scars of their matches at Danger Has A Face. Rarefaction and Tyler failed to work as a team, but when it was one on one, Hartt was having trouble against Rarefaction and Tyler. Hanson was doing well, but after five minutes he had to pull out due to a twisted ankle. Hartt decided to fight on, but he ended up a victim to the devastating Bulldozer from Bull Tyler and victory went to the former champ. However, the nastiest part of the match came afterwards, when Rarefaction attacked Hanson backstage and put him in an ankle lock! Fortunately Chris Hartt saved him before any lasting damage was done. It seems like the animosity between ‘Ironhead’ Steve Hanson and Pablo Rarefaction is not yet over!
For the final match of the evening, the whole 150-seater hall were on their feet for NATIONAL CHAMPION ROB COLE, the Outcast, as rough and tough as they come. His opponent, Yubai, The Genocidal Giant got a massive heel pop. Even though this was non-title, Yubai has been on the wrong end of the results as far as his encounters with Rob Cole have gone. There was certainly a deeper determination in Yubai in this encounter, and Rob Cole felt a lot of hurt throughout with big slams and breakers. Yubai looked like he’d finished Cole off when he pressed him over his head and threw him into the crowd and onto the hard floor, and then beat down on him outside the ring. Indeed, it looked like Cole was about to be destroyed by Yubai’s Kamikaze face first powerbomb, but Cole countered it with a bulldog, smashing Yubai’s face into the hard floor. OH MY GOD! Yelled the crowd, quite rightly!
The match continued and Cole fought on, and Cole focused his attack on the knee of Yubai, executing chop blocks, kneebreakers, Dragonscrews, and wear down holds to the limb in an attempt to cut the wheel out from beneath the big man. There was a great spot when Cole sidestepped the big boot from Yubai, snatched the leg beneath his arm and twisted his body at the last moment into a beautiful dragon screw leg whip from out of nowhere!!! He transitioned, still holding the leg and yanking it up and forcing Yubai over to his stomach with a halfcrab. The maniac struggled with the power of Yubai and suddenly transitioned his leverage again, driving the knee to the mat with a stump puller!!!! Great stuff from Cole.
However, the match later swung Yubai’s way and he dominated proceedings, but somehow Cole wouldn’t stay beaten. The match climaxed when Yubai threw Cole at full throttle into the turnbuckle. Cole collapsed. Yubai came over and gloated, but Cole drew on some inner strength and grabbed Yubai’s ankle and tripped him up, making Yubai fall on his back. Cole dragged Yubai to the ring apron by his leg and slid out, draping the leg over the side of the ring then the Outcast drove the leg down across the apron!!!! He drove his own elbow right above the knee!!! And again!!! And again!!!! OH MY GOD! screamed the crowd as Cole twisted Yubai to the ring post and wrapped the big mans’ leg around it… and executed a ringpost figure four!!!! Yubai was in so much pain he didn’t even try to reach for the ropes, and tapped out immediately! Cole secured another victory and proved once again his championship calibre.
As Yubai hobbled away, and Cole celebrated with his championship, the man in the red singlet from earlier came out and revealed himself to be former UKCW star JAKE COGBURN and told Cole he had every intention of taking the National Championship away from him, and said the Cole would tap out to his Oklahoma armbar.
